Alex Guerra Noriega is director of the Climate Change Research Institute, which was founded by the private sector in Guatemala to carry out research and create strategies for mitigation and adaptation to climate change in Guatemala and Central America. He has a D.Phil. and M.Sc. from the University of Oxford and was the coordinator
of the Sierra de las Minas Water Fund Programme at Defensores de la Naturaleza Foundation. His research focuses on river basin management, ecosystem services, climate change in Guatemala, disaster risk, and water resources.
